The book contains 512 pages, is fully indexed, and has more than 600 color photographs by more than a dozen award-winning Florida photographers. These include Alan Maltz, Dick Fortune, Sara Lopez, Heather Green, R.J. Wiley and others.

The book has been endorsed by Don and Lillian Stokes, Dr. Meg (Canopy) Lowman and Andrew McElwaine of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. It is divided up into four sections: The birds most commonly found throughout Southwest Florida (151 pages), the mammals most commonly found throughout Southwest Florida (47 pages), reptiles & amphibians (63 pages) and parks, preserves and eco-destinations (216 pages). The book was printed at United Graphics, located in Matoon, IL, USA.
